Pablo Sarabia “was not happy” at PSG says manager Christophe Galtier

At his pre-match press conference earlier today, Paris-Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier addressed the departure of Pablo Sarabia, who he claimed was “not happy” at the club. The Spaniard will transfer to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of €5m plus add-ons, with club and player set to finalise the deal today.

The 30-year-old Spanish international has accrued 19 appearances across all competitions for PSG this season, despite the presence of other higher-profile players at the club in forward positions, such as Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Neymar. That said, he has not yet managed a single goal contribution in that time. His performance last season, on loan at Sporting Lisbon, was much more prolific, having scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 29 games.

Wolves will hope to uncover this version of Sarabia, as they look to improve upon a poor start to the season. Today’s 1-0 win at fellow relegation contenders West Ham saw them leapfrog the Hammers to 16th place, and manager Julen Lopetegui will expect new signings such as Sarabia to help them to ascend the table during the second half of the season. As recently as the 2019/20 season, Wolves were playing in the Europa League.
