Official | Thiago Motta signs new PSG deal

Thiago Motta has signed a new-year-deal with Paris Saint-Germain despite rumours of him returning back to Serie A.

There had been some confusion over whether the 34-year-old midfielder would stay in Paris, with Genoa reportedly very interested in bringing him back to the club, but Motta says he is “thrilled” to remain in the capital.

“It’s a great pleasure to extend my contract with Paris Saint-Germain. I have a special relationship with this club, who have put a lot of confidence in me over the last five years,” said Motta.

“The adventure continues and I am very happy. We will continue to be competitive and we will give the maximum to go as far as possible in the competitions we take part in.”

President Nasser Al-Khelaifi said that he was “very pleased to have extended Thiago’s contract. He is an important member of the squad and his leadership and knowledge of the game are really appreciated by our supporters.”

“He is certainly one of those to have contributed greatly to the growth of Paris Saint-Germain both in France and internationally.”
