In speaking at his unveiling press conference having become the new OGC Nice coach this afternoon, Lucien Favre has confirmed that the club’s trio of exciting young players, Amine Gouiri, Khéphren Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo, will be staying at the club this summer.

When asked about their status, Favre explained: “Yes. Gouiri and Thuram will stay, for sure. Todibo too. They will stay. It’s important to master transfer windows, one or two players can make a huge difference in a team.” Although the new coach, who returns to the club he took to third place in 2017, said he would not make any recruitment demands: “I don’t want to dictate anything, I don’t like to do that and I will never do that. I like to discuss, give a point of view and then decide together.”

Borussia Dortmund have been monitoring 22-year-old forward Gouiri, who managed ten goals and nine assists in Ligue 1 this season despite his form evaporating after Christmas. Meanwhile, outgoing coach Christophe Galtier has reportedly been looking to take Thuram, who became a key midfield performer under him this season, to PSG, where Galtier is set to be named as coach in the coming days.
