Lens midfielder Cheick Doucouré will undergo a medical at Crystal Palace tomorrow

Sky Sports report that Lens midfielder Cheick Doucouré (22) is set to undergo a medical at Crystal Palace tomorrow ahead of a move to South London – the Malian midfielder was earmarked as Patrick Vieira’s top target this summer. The defensive midfielder is set to join the Premier League side pending tomorrow’s medical and the final formalities of the deal.

A fee of €21m plus €5m in bonuses had reportedly been agreed for the Lens player earlier this week, with Palace have upping their offer to meet Lens’ demands, after a €17m initial bid fell short last week. Doucouré’s Lens contract was set to run until 2024.

Doucouré made 34 appearances last season and formed a crucial partnership at the heart of the Lens midfield with Seko Fofana. The northern club finished seventh in Ligue 1 – narrowly missing out on European football. The Sang et Or have also prepared for the departure of the 22-year-old, having signed the Ghanian defensive midfielder Salis Abdul Ahmed from Clermont.
