Inter Milan ‘very close’ to signing Godin from Atletico

Inter Milan are ‘very close’ to confirming a deal to sign Diego Godin from Atletico Madrid.

Godin has been heavily linked with an Atletico exit since the summer when Manchester United were keen to sign the Uruguay veteran.

It was thought that the 33-year-old would recommit to Atletico but Inter have now taken the lead in the race to secure his signature for next season.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta admits the club are within touching distance of an agreement.

“We are very close to closing the deal,” Marotta said on Thursday.

“Soon, an official announcement will come.”
