Real Betis, Espanyol & Sevilla willing to take Hatem Ben Arfa plunge

Ouest-France report that a trio of La Liga sides, Real Betis, Espanyol & Sevilla, are willing to take a chance on 32-year-old French attacking midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa and sign him on a free transfer this summer.

The ex-OGC Nice and PSG man said to France 3 last week that he was interested in an adventure in Spain:

“It is something that interests me. When you see how Betis play… there is a philosophy centred around enjoyment in Spain.”

Ben Arfa had offers from Betis and Sevilla in 2016, before deciding to join Les Parisiens instead, and it is no surprise that the former side are interested in his services again after he dominated them over two legs in their recent Europa League knock-out tie affair.

In the meantime, Monchi has got back in touch with HBA since his return to Sevilla and Espanyol also have the player in their line of sight.

Hatem Ben Arfa has an option in his current contract with Rennes that allows both parties to extend by a second season, but HBA wants to know of SRFC’s summer transfer window plans before committing to a second campaign with the Brittany club.

He also intends to make a decision on his future early on in summer, not wanting a repeat of the transfer window that he endured less than 12 months ago which saw him miss pre-season and sign in September for Les Rennais.
