According to L’Équipe, Rennes have rejected yet another offer from German giants Bayern Munich for their young prodigy Mathys Tel (17). This constitutes the third rejection from the Breton club, who recently set an asking price of €30m for their teenage striker. While Bruno Génésio’s side have already turned down offers worth €17m and €22.5m, the value of Bayern’s third bid is as yet unknown, however L’Équipe report that it must have been above €25m.
Just yesterday, Foot Mercato reported that the Breton side were set to accept Bayern’s most recent offer, with plans already in the works to find a replacement.
The Bundesliga champions will be looking to reinforce their attacking options after Robert Lewandowski’s departure for Barcelona. Tel made seven appearances in Ligue 1 last season, but is seen as technically and physically capable of becoming part of a rotating forward line at Bayern – potentially playing around 20 games a season. The Bavarian side presented a long term project by which the player could become the definitive number nine for the club – which reportedly won over the youngster.
