Despite West Ham’s interest in OGC Nice attacker Amine Gouiri (22), the Riviera club are intent on retaining the player that they bought from Lyon for just €7m two years ago, according to Foot Mercato.
They report that the player’s departure is “absolutely not on the agenda” despite interest from big clubs including PSG, Rennes and West Ham. It will reportedly take a “stupendous” offer to force Nice to consider parting with their highly-rated French youth international.
Since arriving at the Allianz Riviera, Gouiri has scored 22 goals in two seasons. He enjoyed a blistering start to the club’s last campaign, but his decline coincided with Nice’s poor run of results, which saw them drop from the Champions League places down to the Europa Conference League.
Gouiri was reportedly frustrated with his role under Christophe Galtier as he was played out wide, much to the player’s frustration. However, with Galtier now at PSG and Lucien Favre taking the reigns, the latter is “counting on Gouiri’s talents.”
With the potential departure of Kasper Dolberg (24), Gouiri could find himself featuring in his desired central role.
