VIDEO: PSG star Cavani produces miss of the season contender

The Uruguayan star somehow contrived to miss when he had a wide-open goal to aim for against St. Etienne.

It was a chance that was much easier to score than to miss. Unfortunately for Edinson Cavani, he ended up with the more difficult accomplishment. 

The Uruguayan submitted a strong entry for miss of the season on Friday, firing wide of a wide-open goal in Paris Saint Germain’s Ligue 1 match at St. Etienne. 

With the league leaders down 1-0 in the second half, Angel Di Maria was sent in behind the home side’s defence and sensibly squared the ball to an unmarked Cavani.

But with the entire goal to aim at, the PSG star incredibly put his shot wide from 15 yards out. 

Cavani’s miss proved costly on the night, as PSG managed a 1-1 draw after a late own goal from Mathieu Debuchy. 

But the draw means the capital side will be unable to clinch Ligue 1 this weekend, with second-place Monaco set to take on Nantes on Saturday.
