Mourinho: Man City know how to exploit every little detail

Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho thinks Manchester City are good at using the “small details” of the game, including trying to influence referees.

The Citizens won the League Cup final 4-3 on penalties on Sunday against Chelsea, which has been slightly overshadowed by Kepa’s refusal to be substituted.

With one trophy in the bag, Pep Guardiola’s side are one point adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool and are still in contention to win the FA Cup and Champions League.

And Mourinho reckons it’s the attention to detail that separates them from a lot of other teams.

“City are a team that knows everything,” Mourinho told DAZN on Sunday.

“And when I say it knows everything, they know how to exploit all the little things in games that only experienced teams with smart people, with many kilometres in their legs at this very high level, know how to control.

“Trying to get a yellow here or a yellow here in groups of players, three or four, around the referees trying to influence a decision.

“It is a team that plays football as well as it does so well this management of small details that ends up being important.”
