Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims he “made it hard” for his Manchester United players in their 2-0 victory over Reading in the FA Cup third round.
Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku scored in the first half to give the Red Devils a fifth win in a row under Solskjaer since he arrived as caretaker manager.
However, Solskjaer admis that the number of changes he made to his starting line-up was tough on the team.
“You can’t ask for more than going through but the way we played wasn’t the best”, Solskjaer told BBC Radio 5 live. “They controlled it in the first five minutes and we weren’t up too speed.
“But we made nine changes, so I made it hard for the boys because they hadn’t played together too much but we got the goals and managed to get through.”
On Alexis Sanchez’s injury, Solskjaer added: “I hope it’s not going to be too bad – it’s the same hamstring that he’s been having trouble with but we’ll see. Hopefully he’ll be OK for next weekend.”
On VAR, Solskjaer continued: “When it’s clear and obvious and factual. But I didn’t need VAR to see that Juan Mata was fouled.”
