PSG’s plan to keep Kylian Mbappé

As reported by Le10Sport, with striker Kylian Mbappé’s future still undecided and PSG still hoping to keep the 23-year-old beyond this season despite links with Real Madrid, the Paris club have decided on their negotiation strategy.

It seems extremely unlikely that Mbappé will sign a new long term deal with PSG, meaning that Paris are instead suggesting a short term contract for the player with the idea that he can play at the 2022 World Cup this coming winter as a PSG player before leaving the club next summer. The deal would be long enough (likely two years) to allow Paris to recoup a transfer fee in the summer of 2023.

Mbappé stated after the win over Lille last night that, with the impending Champions League tie against Madrid, he has yet to make a decision over his future and will not do so until afterwards.
