Igor Tudor following Marseille’s derby defeat: “I can’t complain about my players.”

Speaking following Marseille’s 3-1 loss against Nice, Igor Tudor was steadfastly appreciative of his players’ efforts in the derby, and that the result of the loss is not a product of their mistakes, but the system that the manager wants them to play. The following was transcribed by RMC Sport.

“It was a difficult match against an opponent with players who are in good form,” started the Croatian boss, adding that “I have nothing to complain about my players who pushed, created and showed determination.”

Tudor took responsibility for the defeat, saying “the defeat is my fault, we weren’t good enough today,” adding that “it is normal that we concede goals in this way because of how we play means that we concede chances.” Tudor however admitted that “I don’t think we conceded enough chances to concede three goals.”

Nice came away from the Vélodrome with three points following up an impressive win at Lens in midweek. Sofiane Diop opened the scoring thanks to some clever transition play, before Gaëtan Laborde doubled Les Aiglons’ lead before half-time. Bilal Brahimi scored a third for Nice in the 85th minute before Ruslan Malinovskyi opened his account for Marseille with a consolation goal.
